The USL Championship continues to try to be a developmental ground for young soccer players in the United States and a selling league to MLS and other leagues abroad. While it has made strides in the last couple of years in this space, growth has stagnated a bit and this season has been an example of that. There is really only one U19 player that made a strong case to be sold to a bigger league and he was the only player that was a consistent starter, earning nearly 2,000 minutes. That player sits at the top of this year's rankings and his name is Bryce Jamison.
I'd like to see USL get to a point where they have two to three U19 talents per year that are worthy of a move to higher levels of competition each year.
